 Definition of CHERRY EYE ?

 The drooping of the third eyelid gland in cats or the emergence of the eyelid and the appearance of red puffiness is a sign of a disease known in the eyes of cats known as Cherry eye.

 The gland hanging from the eyelid is also known as the “Cherry Eye”, where it expresses a pink or red lump hanging from the cat's eyelid. Usually, the body stops the growth of the gland by means of an attached supplement consisting of a fibrous material.

 This medical condition occurs in both dogs and cats, although it usually affects younger animals. But they appear in dogs more than cats.

 Symptoms of CHERRY EYE :

 The most common sign of “Cherry Eye” is a visible oval mass of the third eyelid in cats. It can occur in one eye or both eyes, and can be accompanied by swelling and irritation.

 Causes of CHERRY EYE : 

 The third eyelid in cats Cherry Eye usually occurs for genetic reasons related to congenital weakness of the gland in the cat's eye. However, it is uncertain whether it is inherited.

 Many specialists believe that the third eyelid is not associated with a particular strain, it affects all strains.

 But while this medical condition can occur in any breed, it has been observed to be more common in Burmese or Persian cats.

 Diagnosis of CHERRY EYE :

 If your cat gets sick, you will notice the appearance of the cat's third eyelid and the appearance of a pink or red tumor. Your veterinarian will examine the protruding mass of the eyelid, and determine if there is an underlying cause for this condition.

 This condition can be due to cartilage coming out of the cartilage of the third eyelid, abnormal cells in the third eyelid, or fat drooping from the cat's eye.

 Treatment of CHERRY EYE :

 Treatment often involves surgical replacement of the cat's gland, or removal of the entire gland if the condition is severe. Your doctor may recommend some topical anti-inflammatory medications to reduce swelling.

 It is important to prevent the gland from drooping from the eye - thus falling from its proper place in the eye - and limiting the recurrence of the disease.

 Some believe that precautions may prevent the problem, but unfortunately the problem of the emergence of the third eyelid does not have any preventive measures.

 If your cat has this problem, please contact your nearest veterinarian as soon as possible.
